- I created this piece during a time I was going back and forth to traffic court. It was troubling me how police officers would blatantly lie on matters that were extremely petty but drew large consequences. What bothered me most was wondering how the fuck can someone so simpleminded be given or placed a position of authority like that. A position that should require integrity, understanding, a high regard and respect for the human race, the law and the actual position. Out of the five ridiculous traffic summons I received not one of the officers showed any of those traits or qualities. Being into and being a graffiti artist naturally I know how to make something sweeter, and hotter than expected and generally my cars always display a much higher price tag than the actual price, if that makes any sense. I began to realize that cops don’t like to see other people chilling. From my experiences they definitely don’t like to see other people younger than them chilling and I was definitely guilty of “chilling while being black.” After receiving 3 fraudulent speeding tickets back to back, I began to feel that they wanted to take my drivers license away and try to break my pockets by me having to pay these steep speeding ticket and insurance fees. The car in question was a very shiny black convertible with black shiny 20 inch rims with a loud sound system. Being that I worked nights, I had the days to chill and cruise which I had to pause because it seemed like every time I would come out I’d get pulled over by the police. It gotten to a point that I’d avoid them anyway I could. If I would see a checkpoint I’d do a u-turn, if I was driving and I happened to pull up behind them I wouldn’t pass them, I’d turn into the first street to avoid from passing them or them stopping to let me pass and pull me over...crazy.
