Inspiration: DETERMINED
Unlike many of my pieces, DETERMINED wasn’t inspired by a single moment or experience. In fact, it remained untitled for months after I completed it. When the name finally came to me, I realized it described something that had already found its way into the artwork.
The character isn’t running or celebrating. He’s simply walking forward.
The more I looked at the piece, the more I understood that determination isn’t always dramatic. More often, it’s quiet. It’s choosing to keep putting one foot in front of the other regardless of uncertainty, setbacks, or how long the journey may take.
Looking back, I think the title reflected where I was in life more than any one event. I was moving forward—building, learning, creating, and trusting that each step would eventually lead somewhere meaningful, even when I couldn’t yet see the destination.
Sometimes a title explains the artwork. Sometimes the artwork explains the artist.

Place each of the mounting hooks 1 inch (2.5 cm) from frame corners when hanging horizontally.
