1982 Japanese Performance Coupe
Some cars didn’t just arrive…
They changed the direction of the conversation.
Introduced during the summer of 1982, this Japanese performance coupe represented a new generation of automotive thinking. With its sharp wedge profile, integrated fender flares and lightweight performance, it helped introduce enthusiasts to a design language that would influence an entire era of sport coupes.
DESIGN STUDY 014 builds on that foundation through a treatment focused on proportion, contrast and restrained aggression.
The exterior is finished in Tungsten Silver High Gloss with Light Storm tint, air suspension and deleted badging. One-off JECKONEDESIGN RM1S wheels, color-coded in Ebony High Gloss with chrome accents, are fitted with staggered low-profile tires, including deep-dish rears. Midnight Black calipers with chrome highlights and a cat-back exhaust complete the exterior treatment.
Inside, the palette moves deeper. A Midnight Black suede-wrapped steering wheel and Napoleon Black suede headliner frame a Steeple Gray suede interior blended with Smoke Screen Gray suede across the seats, door panels and trunk. Black Nylon and White Polyester Antiwik UV thread add contrasting stitched details throughout.
The concept is completed with a CRISPY sound system featuring seven speakers, four tweeters, a bass-tube subwoofer, a power-boost amplifier finished in Tungsten Silver High Gloss, and a digital equalizer.
Long before wide-body styling became commonplace, vehicles like this showed how subtle aggression and balanced proportions could exist together.
