1954 American Utility Truck

Every workhorse deserves another side of the story.

Built for utility and a life of labor, DESIGN STUDY 001 imagines what comes next — lower, cleaner, quieter and refined for a different kind of life.

This study is rooted in something personal. Years ago, restoring and customizing a 1965 Chevrolet C-10 introduced JECK ONE to bodywork, repair and paint — skills that became part of the transition into vehicle styling. That experience gave “the other side” of this study an entirely different meaning.

The 1954 American Utility Truck is transformed with an Ultra Black High Gloss exterior, an air-suspension stance and one-off JECKONEDESIGN JD1SRmx2 two-piece Steel Edition wheels finished in Midnight Black High Gloss with chrome accents and Black Chrome lips. Staggered low-profile performance tires and deep-dish rear wheels change the truck's original utility proportions without overwhelming its character.

Inside, the working truck becomes something considerably more refined. Gray Gucci GG Monogram embossed calfskin leather covers the seats, paired with Dark Elemental Gray suede and matching Gucci accents across the door panels. A Smooth Slate Gray suede headliner and suede-wrapped steering wheel continue the tonal treatment, with Black and White stitching providing subtle definition.

The concept is completed with a CRISPY sound system featuring five speakers, four tweeters, a bass-tube subwoofer, a single amplifier finished in Ultra Black High Gloss, and a digital equalizer.

Trucks from this era were built to work. Their straightforward construction, strong proportions and unmistakable character, however, have allowed them to live far beyond their original purpose. DESIGN STUDY 001 explores that second life — where utility becomes expression and restoration becomes refinement.
